At our first meeting after Shailja and I took over as office bearers, we sat together to lay down our objectives for the year. We enlisted the help of our poet-writer Dony from Edge Executive Search and defined our mission for the year as...
Be a recognized forum that represents the recruiter community both internally by defining standards and promoting excellence and externally as a flag bearer.

I am often asked by recruiters what they stand to gain by becoming a member of ERA. While the national body is focusing on policy level interventions such as service tax for staffing companies, I think what most of us are concerned with issues pertaining to market access and day to day operations.

We therefore put together a list of events that would provide the following:
• Provide opportunities for networking with corporates
• Provide opportunity for employees of member firms to mingle and share learning
• Provide training and learning inputs.

Our Quiz etz event was appreciated by all those who attended. Thanks to Anishya Madan and the K&J team for their fabulous show. It was heartening to see the way younger members of our profession responded to an opportunity to participate in an industry event.

This newsletter is another attempt to provide a platform for all recruitment professionals to participate in. Shantanu has worked tirelessly to make this happen. We hope all our readers enjoy this issue and we look forward to contributions from each one of you for our future issues.

We have a training session by Verne Harnish scheduled for December 5, 2008. Future events include a recruiters’ conference and a CEO Conclave. In addition, there are some training programmes on the anvil. Our events calendar will keep you posted on the dates.

Our biggest challenge is availability of time and manpower to put events together. We request anyone who is interested in organizing / helping with these events to get in touch with us at the following ids:
